Wildfire’s Child
A fire’s aftermath creates a sense of collective angst, sparking action and the need for collective responsibility.
This sculpture is the first in the Wildfire’s Child series, intended to prompt conversation and thought regarding the threat of wildfire to a community. The visceral quality of the materials combined with children’s furniture conveys a message about the tragic impact of fire.

Coddled Child

“Coddled Child” combines an upside down toy crib, a roof built on its legs, a transparent mattress stuffed with shredded paper currency mounted over the rafters, a floor of scattered keys (from places I have rented, owned, or visited) with an egg coddling set in the center.
It’s the first in my new Insularity series expressing my disdain for parents that shield children from reality with a phony safety net.
