From My Inner Crust

Sanchez Art Center
Pacifica, California
2001

Temporary installation. Salvaged: piano carcass, buckets, gravel, dirt, plywood. New: piano wire.

10’ H x 12’ W x 10’ D

This participatory installation of piano wire, filled buckets and a piano carcass comprise an aerial instrument, born of the piano.

Wires of varied thickness and lengths stretched by a range of bucket weights cause sonic variations. The piano harp is strummed like a regular harp, creating intense, haunting sounds.

Wall pieces are artworks by others in the exhibition.
